Exhibition continues through December 6th

Robert Scott unveils his latest paintings at the Douglas Udell Gallery Edmonton, including new work conceived in Slovenia.

Best known for his experiments with the formal qualities of painting, Edmonton painter Robert Scott re-ignites expressionist painting with his vigorous exploration of colour and form. Robert’s painting has been described by fellow artist Tim Nowlin as “neither timid nor half-hearted. They impose themselves physically as much as visually”. Employing incising and additive techniques of layering using acrylic pigment, gel and blasting grit, Robert creates lush, expansive textures full of gesticulation and wonder.

About the Artist:

Canadian Modernist painter Robert Austin Scott was born in Melfort, Saskatchewan. He completed his initial studies at the Alberta College of Arts, receiving a diploma in Applied Arts in 1969, and received his Master’s in Visual Arts from the University of Alberta in 1976. Following his graduation, Scott taught art, notably as a sessional instructor with the University of Alberta’s Department of Art and Design until 1991. He has exhibited extensively throughout Canada and internationally, and has received numerous awards.
